MOTOR CITY CRUISE FALL TO LAKELAND MAGIC

DETROIT – The Motor City Cruise took on the Lakeland Magic in tonight’s game. The Magic got the win over Motor City with a score of 123-108.

With a 20-2 run, the Magic took a commanding 40-24 lead at the end of the first quarter. Jay Scrubb scored 17 points in the quarter alone. 15 of those points came with 4:30 to go in the quarter. He shot 6-8 from the floor (2-2 beyond the arc) to begin the night. The Cruise fought back in the second quarter after going on a 16-4 run in the middle of the quarter. Motor City cut the lead down to five (61-56) to end the first half. Jay Scrubb led the Magic with 19 points after the half and Jared Rhoden led the Cruise with 12.

The Cruise would tie the game in the third with a 5-0 run, however the Magic would bounce back with a 9-0 run to take the lead again. At the end of the third, the Magic led by five points again (90-85). The Magic began the fourth quarter with an 11-3 run and never looked back to take the win.

Stanley Umude led the Cruise tonight with 25 points. He shot 8-11 from the floor (4-7 beyond the arc). Jared Rhoden followed up with 23 points and shot 8-18 from the floor. Lastly for Motor City, Jaylen Johnson finished tonight’s game with a triple-double. He scored 10 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and tallied 10 assists. Johnson is the first Cruise player this year to record a triple-double.

Jay Scrubb finished tonight’s game with 35 points after shooting 14-25 from the floor (4-9 beyond the arc). Kevon Harris followed up with 25 points after shooting 9-14 from the floor.

The Motor City Cruise fell to 11-13 and Lakeland Magic improved to 11-11. The Cruise will take on the Grand Rapids Gold, Thursday March 2nd at Van Andel Arena (Grand Rapids, Michigan). Tip-off is slated for 7:00pm EST. The game can be seen at https://gleague.nba.com/.
